COVID 19 Resources
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, NELA/NY has formed two taskforces, a
Community Taskforce to provide support for our members, and an
Advocacy Taskforce to create strategies to protect workers harmed by the crisis.
The
Community Taskforce will be working to update resources on this webpage to aid law practices in what promises to be a financially challenging time; working with the NELA Nite committee to develop virtual NELA Nites relating to current situation; providing our members guidance on logistical matters, such as conducting remote depositions, and perhaps getting reduced rates from vendors.
The Community Taskforce includes Shahab Nassirpour (Shahab@nassirpourlaw.com), Patrick DeLince (jpd@delincelaw.com), and Colleen Meenan (cmm@meenanesqs.com). Anyone interested in volunteering, can contact any of them. The
Advocacy Committee will be working with our Legislative committee and affinity non-profits toward legislative action; coming up with legal strategies that can be used to assist workers terminated, and in some cases without unemployment insurance, as a result of the Corona virus crisis.
The Advocacy Committee is led by Elizabeth Saylor (esaylor@ecbalaw.com), and includes Miriam Clark, Gary Ireland and Deborah Karpatkin. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Elizabeth Saylor. Please email any of the leaders or nelany@nelany.com to join or request any support.

The SBA’s
Office of Disaster Assistance will coordinate with state governors that
submit relief requests. Once a state or territory is approved, these affected businesses will receive more information. You can find a regularly updated list of states where disaster assistance is being offered
here.Even if your state is not yet offering disaster assistance you can begin to prepare to apply by looking over the information required. You can get that information
